FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Etsako, East, Edo State – Yesterday, 6 May, 2026, in another bold step towards grassroots transformation and sustainable infrastructure development, the Etsako East Local Government Council, under the purposeful leadership of the Acting Executive Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, has officially commenced the rehabilitation and grading of the Imiemune–Imioko Road in Afokpella, Okpella.

The historic flag-off ceremony, held today across the two communities in Afokpella, was witnessed by the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, His Royal Majesty Micheal Oshioronoya Olorunfemi Sado, who offered prayers and blessings while performing the symbolic Ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the beginning of the project.

Representing the Acting Executive Chairman at the event was the Vice Chairman of Etsako East LGC, Hon. Charles Aloaye Dagana, accompanied by the Speaker of the Etsako East Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Lucky Isa Obado, a proud son of Okpella. Prior to the ceremony, the delegation paid a respectful homage to the revered royal father at his country home in Okpella.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Charles Aloaye Dagana conveyed the goodwill message of the Council Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, stating that he was mandated to personally deliver the chairman’s commitment to meeting the developmental needs of the people of Okpella in Etsako East.

In his royal response, His Royal Majesty Michael Sado applauded the proactive gesture of the Council Chairman. He expressed heartfelt appreciation for the prompt attention to the community’s call for road rehabilitation and earth grading. The monarch also commended Rt. Hon. Ekpeson for his exemplary leadership as chairman of ALGON Edo State chapter and praised the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency distinguished senator Monday Okpebholo, for procuring modern road construction equipment that is now accelerating road works across Edo State.

“This is a joyous day for my people,” the Okuokpellagbe remarked. “The commencement of road grading in Afokpella will open up access to more communities, enhance trade and transportation, and significantly improve the economic wellbeing of our people and the entire Etsako East.”

The Imiemune–Imioko Road is a strategic route that supports daily transportation, local trade, and social connectivity. Residents are confident that the rehabilitation will ease movement, stimulate commercial activities, and uplift the overall appearance of the area.

With heavy-duty machinery already deployed and work actively in progress, Afokpella is witnessing real-time development – a clear indication that Etsako East is progressing steadily under the visionary and responsive administration of Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson.

The people of Imiemune and Imioko, particularly motorists and Okada riders, expressed gratitude and offered prayers for the Council Chairman. Hon. Charles Dagana reassured them that once this route is completed, other community roads will follow in line with the chairman’s pledge that “development will reach every nook and cranny of Etsako East, and no ward or community will be left untouched.”

This project comes barely a month after the approval of grading works for Ivioghomhe, Obaghidi junction, Edegbe, and Osholo roads – further affirming the Council’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure renewal across the local government.

Etsako East is moving forward. Development is visible. The people are hopeful.
