A NEW DAWN FOR OKPEKPE: RT. HON. SUNNY EKPEPTIKA EKPESON, THE PEOPLE’S CHAIRMAN AND CHAIRMAN OF ALGON EDO STATE, FLAGS OFF THE HISTORIC OKODO ROAD PROJECT IN WARD 10 TO UNLOCK ECONOMIC GROWTH, CONNECT COMMUNITIES, AND BRING HOPE, DEVELOPMENT, AND PROGRESS TO EVERY HOME IN OKPEKPE
Etsako East, Edo State – Hope arrived early this morning, Monday, 22nd June 2026, as the people of Okpekpe, Ward 10, witnessed history.
The Acting Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council and Chairman of ALGON, Edo State Chapter, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, officially launched the construction of the Okodo Road project.
The moment the ribbon was cut, joy filled the air and a new chapter of development began for the community.
This groundbreaking marks more than just the start of roadwork. It signals a government that listens, a leadership that acts, and a promise that no community will be forgotten. With this project, Etsako East is turning aspiration into reality – better roads, stronger commerce, and a higher quality of life for every resident of Okpekpe.
Representing the council Boss at the ceremony was the Vice Chairman, Hon. Charles Aloaye Dagana. He restated the administration’s unwavering commitment: to spread development across every ward and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots where they matter most.
The ceremony opened with powerful prayers led by the king of Okpekpe Apa, Peter Abalumhe Osigbemhe, the Onweweko, the reverend king of Okpekpe Clan.
He committed the Okodo Road project into God’s hands, praying for divine protection over the contractors, safety for the workers, and a smooth, speedy completion that will bring lasting benefit to the entire community.
After the prayers, the revered king stepped forward to perform the symbolic ribbon-cutting.
That single act officially kicked off work on Okodo Road, and the entire gathering responded with applause, ululations, and shouts of celebration from residents and guests who came to witness the historic moment.
Addressing the crowd on behalf of the council Boss, Hon. Dagana made it clear that this project reflects Rt. Hon. Ekpeson’s development blueprint.
According to him, the administration is focused on creating roads that will open Okpekpe to new opportunities, reduce transportation stress, and directly improve the welfare of families in the area. “This is more than a road,” he stated, “it is a bridge to a better future for our people.”
Also present were Hon. Edward Imanobe, Secretary to the Local Government Council; Dr. Samuel Oshiole, the project supervisor; party leaders, and other key stakeholders. All applauded the council’s people-first approach to governance.
Today’s flag-off is another bold footprint in the legacy of service being built by Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson.
In his words, “No community in Etsako East will be left behind. We will reach them one community at a time.”
