SERVICE WITH PURPOSE: ETSAKO EAST COUNCIL BOSS, RT. HON. SUNNY EKPETIKA EKPESON AND HIS VICE HON. CHARLES DAGANA USHER IN NEW ERA OF GRASSROOTS PROGRESS, INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE AND PEOPLE-CENTERED LEADERSHIP
Etsako East, Edo State, — Today, 9th September, 2026, was a day of hope, unity, and new beginnings in Etsako East Local Government Area as a fresh team of elected leaders was formally inaugurated to serve the people.
The historic ceremony took place at the Council Secretariat in Agenebode, where Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, Executive Chairman of Etsako East LGC and Chairman of ALGON Edo State, welcomed the commencement of a new chapter of development for the LGA.
Due to important state engagements in his capacity as ALGON Chairman, the oath of office for the 10 elected councilors representing the 10 wards of Etsako East was administered by the Vice Chairman, *Hon. Charles Aloaye Dagana.
In a goodwill message delivered on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Dagana congratulated the new legislators and charged them to embrace service above self.
He emphasized that this administration will be defined by hard work, teamwork, and results that touch every home.
“From today, our focus is clear: action, impact, and delivering the dividends of democracy to every ward. The people have spoken, and we must now work,” he stated.
The leadership made it clear that this government will leave no community behind. Councilors were urged to remain close to their people, responsive, and accountable.
The vision is simple: to ensure that development reaches the farthest village and that every citizen feels the positive presence of government.
The Assembly also witnessed continuity and stability with the unanimous confirmation of Rt. Hon. Lucky Isah Obado of Okpella Ward 8 as Speaker of the 10th Legislative Arm. Having served diligently in an acting capacity, his experience will provide strong direction for lawmaking and policies that improve livelihoods.
Supporting the Speaker to steer the affairs of the Assembly are:
- Hon. Usman Igbasekhe — Deputy Speaker, Three Ibie Ward 9
- Hon. Kester Odidi — Majority Leader, Ward 1
- Hon. Alexander Jerome — Deputy Majority Leader, Okpella Ward 5
- Hon. William Moses Idolamie –Chief Whip, Ward 10
- Hon. Tony Oshiokwe — Deputy Chief Whip
In furtherance of effective governance, Dr. Samuel Oshiole Enaboakpe was sworn in as the Secretary to the Local Government Council. His role will be central to ensuring coordination, efficiency, and prompt service delivery across all departments.
With this inauguration, Etsako East officially steps into a new era built on transparency, inclusiveness, and grassroots development.
The message to the people remains firm: you will see the difference, you will feel the impact, and together we will build a council that works for all.
