Owan East LGA, Edo State – The people of Ihievbe Community in Owan East Local Government Area played host to a dignified gathering on 2nd May 2026, as family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers came together to celebrate the life and legacy of Late Pa G.R. Ahonsi, beloved father of Mr. Charles Ahonsi, Director of Administration and General Services of Etsako East Local Government Council.

The solemn yet colourful ceremony drew a large turnout of distinguished personalities from within Edo State and beyond. The event reflected the deep respect Pa Ahonsi commanded in his lifetime and the high regard the public holds for his son, Mr. Charles Ahonsi, who continues to serve Etsako East Local Government with dedication, humility, and administrative excellence.

Etsako East Local Government Council was fully represented in honour and solidarity. Leading the council’s delegation was the Chief of Staff to the Acting Executive Chairman, Senior High Chief Emmanuel Bello, who stood in for Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, Acting Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council. He was accompanied by a strong team of council staff who turned out in large numbers to stand with their Director during this moment of reflection.

Also present to commiserate with the family was Senior Comr. Cosmos Iwenekhai, Deputy State President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE), Edo State Chapter. His presence underscored the unity of the local government family and the value placed on compassion, brotherhood, and mutual support within the service.

The atmosphere was one of love, respect, and thanksgiving as tributes poured in for the late patriarch. Speakers described Pa G.R. Ahonsi as a man of peace, wisdom, and integrity whose guidance shaped the values that Mr. Charles Ahonsi brings to public service today. The ceremony concluded successfully, marked by prayers, cultural displays, and shared moments of comfort among attendees.

We join the Ahonsi family in celebrating a life well lived. We pray that Almighty God grants the gentle soul of Pa G.R. Ahonsi eternal rest, and may He continue to strengthen and comfort Mr. Charles Ahonsi and the entire family at this time.
