WORKERS’ DAY CELEBRATION 2026: ETSAKO EAST NULGE CHAIRMAN COMR. OZEKOMHE ABIBU COMMENDS COUNCIL BOSS RT. HON. SUNNY EKPETIKA EKPESON FOR UNPRECEDENTED COMMITMENT TO STAFF WELFARE, CREATION OF A DIGNIFIED AND PRODUCTIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT, AND INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP THAT INSPIRES EXCELLENCE; APPLAUDS GOVERNOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO’S VISIONARY, PRO-LABOUR POLICIES ADVANCING THE DIGNITY OF LABOUR ACROSS EDO STATE
Etsako East, Edo State – As millions of workers across the globe mark International Workers’ Day 2026, the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Etsako East Local Government Council Branch, Agenebode, has joined the celebration with a powerful message of gratitude and solidarity delivered by its Chairman, Comr. Ozekomhe Abibu.
In a special goodwill message issued this morning on behalf of the entire workforce, Comr. Ozekomhe conveyed the heartfelt appreciation of all Etsako East council staff to the Acting Executive Chairman of the Council and Edo State ALGON Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson. The NULGE leader praised the Council Boss for his uncommon passion for human capital development and for making staff welfare a defining pillar of his administration.
According to Comr. Ozekomhe Abibu, the transformation witnessed under Rt. Hon. Ekpeson’s leadership has been both visible and impactful. From timely attention to workers’ entitlements to deliberate upgrades that have made the council secretariat safer, healthier, and more inspiring, the Chairman has shown that the dignity of labour is not just a slogan but a practice. “Our working environment today reflects respect,” he stated. “It energizes us to give our best to Etsako East.”
Reflecting on the essence of May Day, Comr. Ozekomhe described 1st May 2026 as a historic and symbolic moment for all labour heroes. “This is our day of honour,” he affirmed. “It is a unique opportunity to celebrate the resilience, sacrifice, and patriotism of every council worker, and to recognize leaders who stand firmly with us.”
The NULGE Chairman, speaking for all members, expressed profound gratitude to Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson for his open-door policy, worker-centered reforms, and the atmosphere of mutual respect he has cultivated across departments. He further lauded the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his visionary, pro-labour agenda that continues to uplift local government workers and strengthen grassroots governance in Edo State.
Comr. Ozekomhe also extended his appreciation and goodwill message to Senior Comr. Cosmos Iwenekhai, Deputy State President of NULGE, Edo State Chapter, for his steadfast leadership, solidarity with grassroots workers, and tireless advocacy that continues to advance the rights and welfare of local government employees across the state.
He emphasized that the goodwill and motivation extended by both the Council and State leadership have renewed the spirit of service among staff. He pledged the unwavering loyalty of Etsako East workers and assured that NULGE will continue to partner with government to deepen productivity, accountability, and excellence in service delivery to the people.
He concluded with a charge to all workers: “Let us wear our identity with pride. Let us remain disciplined, innovative, and committed to the growth of Etsako East. With leaders who value us, our best days are ahead.”
