Etsako East LGA, Edo State – In a bold and coordinated step toward securing lives and livelihoods, officers of the Nigerian Army and operatives of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) held a joint strategic meeting on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, at the 195 Battalion Barracks, Agenebode. The session was convened to strengthen collaboration and roll out fresh, proactive measures aimed at curbing crime and restoring lasting peace across Etsako East Local Government Area.
Speaking to the assembled security personnel, the Operations Officer of 195 Battalion, 2nd Lieutenant S.A. Adekanbi, called for steadfastness, courage, and unity of purpose in addressing security challenges within the local government. He described the protection of communities as a sacred responsibility that demands focus and determination.
“With discipline, preparation, and collective resolve, we will secure every village, every market, and every farmland,” he affirmed. “Our goal is clear: peace, safety, and tranquility must return to Etsako East.”
Representing the Acting Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council and Edo State (ALGON) Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson was his Special Adviser on Security Affairs, Mr. Omoudu Bright. He delivered a message of encouragement and assurance from the Council Boss, commending the dedication of all security formations.
He emphasized that the Council stands firmly with the officers and will provide every necessary support and logistics required to enhance patrols, intelligence gathering, and community protection.
Mr. Omoudu Bright further highlighted the Council’s commitment to reclaiming the forests and farmlands of Etsako East for their rightful purpose. He noted that continuous bush combing exercises have become a key part of the local security strategy, especially during this planting season.
“Our fertile lands and forests belong to our farmers and hunters, not to criminal elements,” he stated. “We are determined to ensure that every family can cultivate, harvest, and thrive without fear.”
Addressing welfare concerns, the Special Adviser appealed to members of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) whose monthly allowances are pending to remain calm and confident. He confirmed that payments are being processed for all personnel whose records have been submitted, as part of the Council’s commitment to transparency, motivation, and timely support for those who serve.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Omoudu Bright conveyed a strong appeal from the Council Chairman to parents, guardians, and community leaders. He urged families to guide their children and wards toward peace and lawful conduct, and to support security agencies with useful information.
“Anyone found to be aiding, abetting, or participating in activities that endanger public safety will face the full consequences of the law,” he said. “We are one community, and together we will protect our heritage, our people, and our future.”
The meeting closed with a renewed pledge of cooperation between the Nigerian Army, Edo State Security Corps, and the Etsako East Local Government Council to deepen grassroots security and ensure that peace prevails in every corner of the local government.
