ACTING EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN RT. HON. SUNNY EKPETIKA EKPESON LEADS IMPRESSIVE WIDE-RANGING INSPECTION OF MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS ACROSS ETSAKO EAST, DELIVERS RENEWED HOPE TO SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES AHEAD OF SATURDAY’S HISTORIC LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL ELECTION
Etsako East, Edo State – A wave of excitement and pride swept across Etsako East yesterday, Thursday, 9th July, 2026, as the Acting Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson embarked on a comprehensive inspection tour of major projects across various wards.
The tour commenced in his own community, Iviukwe, Ward 3. At Atheka Primary School, the Chairman examined newly upgraded facilities that clearly reflect his dedication to quality education.
Three old buildings have been fully innovated, with each now containing six blocks of modern classrooms and offices constructed to the approved standard of EdoSUBEB.
In addition, a brand new structure of six modern classrooms, two new offices, six toilets, and a newly sunk borehole have been provided. This borehole has already been serving the good people of Iviukwe community for some time now.
Engineers from EdoSUBEB, Benin, who were fully on ground during the inspection, commended the Acting Executive Chairman, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, for the excellent work. They confirmed that work at Atheka Primary School, Iviukwe, has reached 98% completion and expressed satisfaction with the high level of delivery.
The inspection continued to Ivianukpodi Primary School in Ward 2, which is currently undergoing major renovation. Here, two buildings with six blocks of modern classrooms each are being reconstructed. The school fencing has also been completed. Other key works still ongoing include staff and head teacher offices, with plans to sink a borehole within the school premises.
The EdoSUBEB engineers were amazed at the level of work being done by the Acting Executive Chairman and respected Head of ALGON, Edo State Chapter. They described the projects as an “education breakthrough” in those communities and gave a commendation scorecard to the incoming substantive Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council.
But the Chairman’s commitment did not stop there. Yesterday’s activities also took Rt. Hon. Ekpeson to Ward 9, covering the 3 Ibie communities, where he initiated new projects for the upgrade of schools.
At Echeadakwi Primary School in Imiegba, two blocks of old buildings will be renovated and fitted with offices. Four blocks of modern toilets will also be constructed, while areas where the school fence has collapsed will be raised to meet EdoSUBEB requirements.
At Imiakebu Community Primary School, the project will involve the total overhauling of two dilapidated buildings. The plan includes teachers’ and head teacher’s offices, modern blocks of toilets, full fencing of the school, and the construction of erosion control channels to address the deep gullies threatening the Azamanodu section of the school premises.
The people of Imiakebu community received the news with great joy, describing it as the long-awaited intervention they have been hoping for.
As the flag bearer of the APC for the Chairmanship election of Etsako East Local Government Council scheduled to hold tomorrow, Saturday, 11th July, 2026, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson has shown a clear example of service-driven leadership.
While his counterparts in other councils are focused only on election outcomes, the people’s Chairman, our incoming substantive Executive Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ekpeson alongside his running mate, Hon. Dagana are busy moving from ward to ward, inspecting and initiating projects that directly improve the lives of the people.
His vision remains firm: to build the future of Etsako East on education, infrastructure, and inclusive growth for all.
