OKPELLA ROADS COME ALIVE UNDER RT. HON. Sunny EKPETIKA EKPESON: A MONTH OF UNBROKEN PROGRESS, STRATEGIC LINKAGES, AND RENEWED ACCESS AS ETSAKO EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL ALIGNS WITH GOVERNOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO’S SHINE AGENDA TO DELIVER VISIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE AND SHARED PROSPERITY FOR ALL COMMUNITIES

Etsako East is on the move, and Okpella is feeling the impact.

Since assuming office, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, Acting Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council and Chairman of ALGON, Edo State Chapter, has placed road infrastructure at the heart of his administration.

Working in full alignment with His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, and the transformative “SHINE AGENDA,” the council boss declared a state of emergency on bad roads in Okpella. One month later, the results are visible, deliberate, and still progressing.

Okpella stands as one of the largest and most commercially active towns in Etsako East, Edo State. With 4 wards and dozens of neighborhoods, connecting its communities has always been key to unlocking growth. That is exactly what Rt. Hon. Ekpeson’s road rehabilitation and grading project is achieving right now.

Completed and Ongoing Road Works in Okpella – Ward 7 & Ward 8:
The council’s engineering team has been on ground for over a month, grading, opening, and linking key routes. Residents can now attest to progress on the following streets and communities:

Ward 7 – Afokpella Community Area

  1. Afokpella Community Link Road
  2. Internal access roads connecting Afokpella to neighboring settlements

Ward 8 – Iddo Community Area

  1. Late Joseph Street
  2. Late High Chief Momodu Bameyi Street
  3. Chief Ayo Igiemonu Street
  4. Sabogeri Road
  5. Late Abidu Street
  6. Late Ayama Street and among others.

These are not just names on paper. They represent homes, schools, farms, and markets that were once cut off by potholes and erosion. Today, those same paths are being reshaped into smooth, accessible routes that join one community to another within the ‘Okpella axis.

Rt. Hon. Ekpeson has assured residents that work has not stopped since the first day equipment arrived, and it will not stop until every ward in Etsako East feels the dividend of this administration.

“As Governor Monday Okpebholo is making Edo SHINE, Etsako East must SHINE with him,” the council boss declared. “No community will be left untouched. Every ward, every village, every farm road must experience this administration’s commitment to service.”

The Chairman emphasized that these roads go beyond movement. They are economic lifelines. With better access, farmers can evacuate produce without delay, traders can expand to new markets, and small businesses can grow without the cost of damaged vehicles and lost time. Emergency services will respond faster, and students will reach school more safely. That is governance that touches real lives.

The response from Okpella has been overwhelming. For many residents, this is the first sustained government intervention on their roads in years. The sight of graders and compactors working daily has renewed confidence that leadership can deliver when the people come first.

With Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson providing steady direction, Etsako East Local Government Council is showing that accountability, vision, and people-centered projects can run together. The grading and dualization work continues, and the SHINE story in Etsako East is just getting brighter.
