UNDER EKPESON’S DIRECTIVE, ETSAKO EAST TIGHTENS SCHOOL SECURITY: AS CIE COMR. AGBUDUME, CIVIL DEFENCE CORPS UNITE TO PROTECT LEARNERS AND ENFORCE DISCIPLINE AS NEW ACADEMIC SESSION BEGINS
Etsako East, Edo State_ – The Chief Inspector of Education for Etsako East Local Government Council, Comr. Agbadumhe Emmanuel on Tuesday 28 April, 2026, hosted a strategic security dialogue with the Divisional Head of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Chief Superintendent of Corps, Mr. Jeffrey Aseghiemhe at the Education Office in Agenebode.
The meeting was convened to strengthen measures for the safety, welfare, and academic focus of all students across Etsako East and surrounding communities, as schools open for a new academic session.
Comr. Agbadumhe called for deeper synergy between education authorities and security agencies to ensure that every child learns in a secure and distraction-free environment.
A key concern raised was the rising trend of pupils and students being seen outside school premises during instructional hours. The CIE described the practice as harmful to learning outcomes and a risk to the safety of young people.
In response, Comr. Agbadume Emmanuel conveyed the firm position of the Acting Executive Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson. The Council Boss has directed all heads of schools in the LGA to treat the new session with utmost seriousness, prioritizing discipline, punctuality, and quality teaching to uplift the standard of education.
To reinforce this directive, security operatives have been mandated to support school authorities. Any learner found roaming the streets or public spaces during class time will be taken in by officials and returned to their school or parents for proper guidance. The goal is corrective, not punitive — to protect students and keep them focused on their studies.
The CIE further appealed to parents, guardians, and community leaders to join this drive. He urged families to counsel their children to remain within school grounds throughout the school day, emphasizing that discipline begins at home and is sustained in the classroom.
Comr. Agbadume noted that the Local Government Council, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ekpeson, is committed to ending truancy and restoring a strong culture of learning. Appropriate measures will be applied where necessary, because the future of Etsako East depends on educated, disciplined, and well-protected children.
Both the Education Office and the Civil Defence Corps concluded the meeting with a pledge to increase patrols around schools, conduct joint sensitization, and respond swiftly to any threat to student safety throughout the session.
