A NEW VOICE FOR EDO AT THE NATIONAL TABLE: RT. HON. SUNNY EKPETIKA EKPESON, YOUNGEST ALGON CHAIRMAN IN NIGERIA AND EDO ALGON LEADER, SPEAKS BOLDLY FOR EDO PEOPLE AT WORLD BANK WORKSHOP, DEMANDING BETTER HEALTHCARE AND INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT FOR EVERY COMMUNITY
Abuja – Leadership with purpose was on full display in Abuja this week as Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Edo State Chapter and the youngest in Nigeria, stood shoulder to shoulder with his counterparts from across the 36 states.
The national gathering, convened by the World Bank, brought together council chairmen to shape fresh ideas around community health, maternal care, and long-term development at the local level.
It was a room filled with policy, but the focus remained simple: how do we make life better for families at the grassroots?
Speaking on behalf of Edo people, Rt. Hon. Ekpetika Ekpeson, who also leads Etsako East Local Government Council as the Acting Executive Chairman addressed the assembly with clarity and conviction.
He drew attention to the gaps Edo has faced over time in benefiting fully from maternal and child health programmes, plus other key development support.
Though blessed with huge potential, many of our communities still struggle to access basic health and welfare services, the young chairman observed.
He called for deeper collaboration with global partners like the World Bank to close those gaps and bring real relief to those who need it most.
In his words: “Our people have waited too long on the sidelines of progress. The time has come to build a system where every mother receives care, every child gets a chance, and no family is left out. With the right partnerships, Edo can lead a new story of hope and healing.”
His message struck a chord. Delegates praised his boldness, his empathy, and his clear focus on people-first governance.
Many called it a defining moment that reminded everyone why local leadership matters.
The Etsako East Local Government Council Boss, Rt. Hon. Ekpetika Ekpeson reaffirmed that his mission goes beyond office.
True leadership, he said, is measured by the lives changed, not the titles held.
His administration remains committed to tapping every opportunity that puts Edo residents first.
As the workshop continues to influence policies on health, financial access, and local governance, the Edo ALGON Chairman has emerged as a fresh, credible voice for reform.
His presence in Abuja sent one clear signal: a new wave of leaders is here — leaders guided by service, compassion, and the drive to bring development home.
For him, the goal is unchanged.
No ward overlooked.
No community left behind.
Edo State will no longer watch from the sidelines. We will claim our rightful share of every transformative health and development initiative Nigeria offers.
